Our commercial clients generally have a key requirement to have their work completed on time to allow the maximum use of their resources and assets.

Frequently commercial projects are carried out in occupied premises and there are strict requirements to keep noise and dust to the absolute minimum.

At BMS Scotland we work with Local Authorities, RSLs, Landlords and Homeowners.
The requirements of our clients range from the simple one trade repair, to multi trade repairs, extensions, adaptations and upgrading works.

Works to all housing types, detached, semi-detached, flatted and multi storey can be undertaken.

Industrial buildings present a number of issues in terms of health and safety, access and specialist needs.
A full risk assessment is undertaken and method statements prepared which take account of the processes and hazards relevant to the use of the building and the site environment.

BMS has the people with experience of working safely in an industrial environment with the capabilities to programme and manage the works with the least possible disruption to the onsite production and services.

In addition to our usual all trades service we can provide the skills to deal with the building envelope and specialist materials that may be required.
BMS will take responsibility for planning and coordinating the works with the onsite managers and the clients’ representatives to meet programme, quality and all other requirements.

In our experience clients providing healthcare are concerned about how we carry out building and maintenance work without causing problems for their staff and patients. We understand the need to protect the environment form dust and contaminants, minimise noise and if necessary to suspend works if sensitive procedures are in progress.

Special care is taken to understand client’s requirements in these most sensitive environments and all of our people, subcontractors and visitors will be fully briefed to minimise the possibility of breaches of site specific procedures.

Public buildings

Sharing access to public buildings for building works requires our operations to be planned sensitively to avoid risk to the occupiers and visitors. Ideally a separate access route would be used with physical barriers to prevent others from straying into the construction access. This is not always possible especially for smaller scale works so great care is needed to ensure the safety of all users.

Public Buildings also require noise and dust suppression and it is important to maintain cleanliness in all occupied or public areas.

In addition to working with the client it is important to engage with the users of the building to understand their concerns and direct requirements. Open and easy channels of communication are often the key to a successful project.

Retail

In our experience the key requirement of all retail clients is speed of operation to minimise the downtime and disruption to sales operations. Working through the proper channels our works need to be fully coordinated with the retail operations to cause the least possible disruption with handover at the agreed time.

To provide a comprehensive service our work can be carried out in phases or out of hours. BMS also understands the need for brand integrity and can operate in client’s livery or without BMS livery.

Leisure

There are many types of operations within the Leisure sector and it is important to understand the exact requirements of each client.

One common theme is the importance of service to our clients’ customers. All of our operations need to be planned to minimise the disruption the building and maintenance works may have on the delivery of service to your customers.

Some leisure operations provide a 24 hour service and this will require works to be carried out at the least sensitive time, whereas others will have closed periods when maintenance work can be carried out.

Attention to details such as noise and dust minimisation and access / egress is vitally important in reducing disruption.

Trade packages for contractors

BMS are able to offer single trade or multi-trade services to management and principal contractors on all types of construction projects. All management have experience of working in project environments and understand the importance of maintaining site rules and procedures.

Working in collaboration with the project management team and other contactors on site is our preferred method of operation. In our experience this provides the best environment for everyone to maintain focus on project delivery, achieving quality and financial performance.

BMS are able to provide detailed method statements and health & safety plans. We are concerned about the environment and will comply with site rules for waste management, minimisation and disposal.
